It’s spring cleaning time. . .

Spring time officially started on the 20th March, which means we need to get down to the yearly act of thoroughly cleaning our homes from top to bottom.

Spring cleaning is a tradition that allows us to freshen up our homes and start a fresh for the hectic seasons of spring and summer.

Spring cleaning will most likely never be effortless, but Roman at Home has wanted to help make the task more manageable and perhaps even enjoyable.

We set up a competition for people to send in their best cleaning tips and we have now picked the winning tip and thought we would share some of the top tips with you, to give you a helping hand this spring.

Anne Tomma’s top tip was,

To use old toothbrushes to clean around taps and stubborn bits.

Becky Anne Shorting suggested,

Stick on loud music to make the whole thing more enjoyable, leave carpet freshener in the carpet whilst you clean somewhere else so it absorbs the lovely smell.

Daisy Elizabeth recommended,

Rub a lemon wedge inside your mug to get rid of tea stains; then wash with soapy water – perfect!

Kellyjo Walter’s tip was,

toothpaste on doors and handles, it takes off the finger prints and it works well on taking off horrid kids drawings from the walls or woodwork.

Melanie Allen’s hint was,

put coke cola down the toilet and leave it all day to get rid of limescale and you will have a nice clean loo.

Eleanor Beavan commented,

My tip is to do one room a day, that way you can clean each room thoroughly without stressing too much and at the end of the week you have a sparkly home. That’s my dad’s tip and it works for me.

Elaine Dale’s advice was,

to clean windows with vinegar and newspaper to give them a sparkle.

Jean Bolsover suggested,

Start at the top of the house and work down.

Donna Bellis recommended,

The winning cleaning tip was from Cathy Creighton,Cathy’s advice was,

to sprinkle bicarbonate of soda over carpets, fabric sofas, cushions and mattresses, leave for a while and then hoover off, this removes smells and odours from pets, smoking etc. and it’s really cheap
